What if I get an OutOfMemory error when I run SCNMPlot?
How is SCNMPlot different from jPlot and xplot?
How to nudge the individual plots
How to add/remove color layers from the individual plots
In order to use SCNMPlot you must have a JavaTM virtual machine (JVM) installed on your system. SCNMPlot is designed to work with JVMs that support JavaTM 2 Platform, Standard Edition (J2SETM) version 1.3 or higher.
For information on obtaining and installing a JVM on your system please visit the Java Technology Products and APIs page (for Solaris, Windows and Linux operating systems) or the Java Platform Ports page (for other operating systems).
To overlay multiple files using SCNMPlot, at the command prompt enter:
java -jar SCNMPlot.jar -o [files] where: -o is the option that enables the overlay of files files is a space separated list of file names (where the files are in the xPlot format)
The plots come up with each plot file specified on the command line represented by a darker shade. No nudging is performed initially.
Occasionally you may run into an OutOfMemory error when using SCNMPlot. This is due to the fact that the default heap size for the Java virtual machine was too small for the size of the files being plotted. To remedy this you need to set the -Xmx
java option to a larger size.
For example, if I needed 100 Mbytes of memory for my plots I would enter the following to run SCNMPlot:
java -Xmx100M -jar SCNMPlot.jar -o file1 file2
For more information on this java option you may enter the following:
java -X
SCNMPlot extends the ability of jPlot and xplot by:
SCNMPlot intends to maintain the same interface as jPlot and xplot, however there are some differences.
To zoom in drag the mouse while pressing the left mouse button.
To zoom out click on the left or right mouse buttons.
To drag the entire graph drag the mouse while pressing the middle button. (NOTE: dragging of the graph in this manner does not affect the nudge values, i.e. if you drag the entire graph this way the nudge values will remain the same as before the drag)
To show the distance triangle drag the mouse while pressing the right button
NOTE: All of the offsets are treated as absolute in regards to the original values.
NOTE: This ability is only available when using the -o option, i.e. to perform this function when viewing a single plot the user must still specify the overlay option.
