Schemas for Exchanging Network Measurements with OGSI

Background

The GGF Network Measurements working group has created a document which provides a model for network measurement data  and specific attributes for a subset of the "characteristics". The OGSI working group is working on  a specification to extend Web Services standards in a way useful for stateful Grid service. One part of the OGSI specification is a standard interface for retrieving data from a service, called "find service data".  In this context, the data returned are called "service data elements". The only restriction placed on these service data elements is that they are valid XML documents. Therefore, if the NM-WG "profiles" are described with XML Schema, then it is not difficult to write an OGSI service which will allow search and retrieval of this network measurements through the "find service data" mechanism.
